A1- Its Just a Burning Memory
The first signs of dementia, shrugged off as old age. Uneasy tension grows as the thoughts start to grow along side it. A pile of forceful ignorance, blocks the concept of it being more then just old age.
"It Must be old age... It has to be. My wife keeps telling that I've been acting a bit, abnormally. Which is weird since she married someone who could take memories from the dead. Oh there I go drifting off... Jeez could be Alz- no, its not... it has to be just a burning memory."
Heartaches, Heartaches,
What does it matter how my heart breaks,
Your kiss was such a sacred thing to me,
I can't believe its just a burning memory... - Al Bowlly
A2- We don't have many days
The realization that death is encroaching. Coming from the thinking about old age. It feels cold, saddening, yet calming. After all, you can't have problems like these if your dead. The Caretaker takes a look back on his past as well, and bathes in bittersweet nostalgia. His relation his wife, has been not great due to the fights about his possible Alzheimer's.
"It saddens me, knowing that I'll die. Though if I'm going to honest, I'm a bit relieved. No more issues, no more pain. But again I'll have no memories to think of. Good thing I still have some time left to live..."
You can't stop people from talking
And they're talking, my dear
And the things they're saying
Fill my heart with fear
Now I could never believe them
When they say you're untrue
I know that they're mistaken
Still, I want to hear it from you - Layton & Johnstone
A3 - Late afternoon drifting
Fear, the start of cognitive dissonance. This is the start of the real downfall, and there's no going up. Not much else to say, after all. There's only so much you can say, before it loses meaning.
"Where was the Car Keys... Honey! Do you know where the Car Keys are?"
"..."
"Honey? Oh yeah, she's not here. Dang, how did I drift off like that..."
Lovers depend on moonlight for a love affair
Babies depend on mothers for their tender care
Flowers depend on sunshine and the morning dew
Each thing depends on something, and I depend on you - Layton & Johnstone
A4 - Childishly fresh eyes
The blocking out. Nothing is wrong, he'll say. But we all know that's is all a lie. The Caretaker reminisce his past, but all that does is bring those thoughts closer and closer. Something is lurking beneath...
"Ah, I remember those times, truly wonderful! Wait... Who is that guy in the photo? Oh! It's Layton! I can't believe I forgot something like that!"
"Its probably not as important as it was now probably. Probably should move to the next photo!"
A5 - Slightly bewildered
The beginning of confusion. Forgetting minor details more and more. The Caretaker looks through the photos to find foreign people more and more. He tries to get his mind of it, but he soon forgets what he was doing.
Goodbye, blues
Birdies are singing every old thing in tune
Goodbye. blues
Nothing but laughter morning and afternoon
Saw a rose bud in a store
So I'm going whether more
Goodbye, blues

A6 - Things that are beautiful and transient
For once he gets his mind off of things. He relaxes with his wife, he feels calmed. Yet something their still a specter of doubt looming in his mind. He's start to forget more, but he still tries to ignore it. But that can't last forever.
"I love you"
"I love you too"
"I always loved since you were... were..."
"21, are you sure that its just old age?"
"Yes, I'm sure..."
"Okay..."
Ever in dreams with you I'll sway dear to the waltz you saved for me
Ever in dreams while I'm away dear you'll hear this melody
Whisper goodbye and gently say dear that in all the days to be
You will sometimes remember the waltz you saved for me - Wayne king & his orchestra
